Background

Maria Leousi studied Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Thessaly (Greece) and pursued her Masters in Medical Imaging at the University of Utrecht. She joined the Radiotherapy Department of the UMC Utrecht and the Computational Imaging Group for her Masters research project in 2020, under the supervision of Matteo Maspero and Nico van den Berg. Here, Maria worked on uncertainty estimation and assessment of deep learning-based segmentation for prostate cancer patients who undergo radiotherapy treatment. With her work, she aimed to develop a framework to assess uncertainty in the clinic, ameliorating the workload.
