DLinRT 2026 at UMC Utrecht

March 19, 2026

On 5 and 6 March 2026, we hosted the latest edition of Deep Learning in Radiotherapy (DLinRT) at the Department of Radiotherapy of UMC Utrecht. The two-day meeting brought together medical physicists, researchers, clinicians, and industry professionals from all over Europe for a focused programme on current developments in deep learning for radiotherapy. With 120 participants, the event was fully booked.

The first day consisted of a one-day educational workshop aimed at medical physicists in radiotherapy. The programme covered the principles of machine learning and deep learning, followed by lectures on auto contouring, image reconstruction, image registration and contour propagation, image synthesis, treatment planning, explainable AI and uncertainty quantification, large language models, and the practical challenges of clinical implementation.

The second day featured the scientific symposium of the Radiotherapy Expert group initiative. During this symposium, participants discussed four strategic research themes within the field: image synthesis and reconstruction, contouring and registration, clinical predictions, and clinical implementation. In this way, DLinRT 2026 offered both an educational programme and a platform for scientific exchange across the Dutch radiotherapy community and beyond.

DLinRT 2026 was organized by Matteo Maspero and Maarten Terpstra. More information about the event and the full programme can be found at dlinrt.org and on the programme page.
